whispers in the corridors

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttar Pradesh on 28-29 April to launch a fresh round of infrastructure and rail upgrades, with the spotlight on two new Amrit Bharat Express services and the Ganga Expressway. The trains to be flagged off are Banaras–Pune (Hadapsar) and Ayodhya-Mumbai (Lokmanya Tilak Terminus), aimed at improving long-distance connectivity for passengers from eastern Uttar Pradesh .
The larger showcase, however, is the 594-km Ganga Expressway in Hardoi, built at a total cost of around ?36,230 crore. The access-controlled greenfield corridor is expected to cut travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj from 10-12 hours to around 6 hours, while also linking multiple districts across the state. A 3.5-km emergency landing facility in Shahjahanpur adds strategic value to the project.
For Uttar Pradesh, the visit reinforces the state’s role as a major hub of railway expansion and highway development. The new Amrit Bharat services are being positioned as affordable, modern long-distance trains, adding another layer to the government’s connectivity push.
